but now we're here in los gatos the rain is much lighter than it was. it's moving toward the central coast. highway 17 is slick. we passed one of those electronic traffic signs and it said reduce speed. handful of cars but they are not reducing their speed but hopefully people will be careful out there. we have video from san mateo where it was deluge this morning pouring rain a, who are piston dal rain that -- horizontal rain that was making rain standing water. there was a lot of standing water. as the sun starts to rise. the light of day appears, it seems the vein disappearing. again you'll need those windshield wipers and need to keep headlights be on and be aware there will be slick conditions. nothing like the downpour we saw as early an hour ago. pulling up my "abc 7 news" app and live doppler does show a yellow band, some rain will be handgun headed our way in los gatos but it's not here quite yet. we'll check back with you in 30 minutes. >> katie: power outages because of the weather. here are the major ones according to pg&e, loyola along 280

san jose towards los gatos. light or moderate rain shower. we are getting a little bit of a break but still soggy outside. look at these highs today. barely in the 50s for napa, hayward, oakland, san francisco today and downtown, only at 48 degrees. sonoma, you only hit 46. one of the cooler christmases we've had in a while. the reason we have the cool front pushing through, breezy, notice all the yellow and red. the heaviest return now pushing off to the east and moving from the bay area towards the sierra where heavy snow will fall. wet, breedsy at times overnight tonight for the first half of tomorrow. then that front is gone. for one day, again, only one day, we'll dry out with high pressure building in thursday, looks mainly dry before another rain maker moves in for friday and saturday. just some showers out there over the weekend. but saturday looks to be the wetter day of our two-day weekend. soaking rainfall possible through tonight. slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm. we saw reports of small hail in south santa clara county.

now, the los gatos town council will take up the issue of conditional use permits in february. in los gatos, cate caugiran, cbs 5. >> thank you. >>> sentencing for the man convicted of killing two people at the richmond/san rafael bridge toll plaza has been delayed until next month. a postponement comes at the request of the killer nathan burris. cbs 5 reporter elissa harrington explains why. >> i want closure. >> reporter: but closure for the families of deborah ross and ersie everette known as chuck will have to wait. the sentencing has been delayed to january 18. the two were gunned down at the richmond/san rafael bridge tollbooth in 2009. nathan burris was ross' ex- boyfriend. the sentencing was supposed to happen today after the jury gave him the death penalty in november. family members were prepared to read impact statements and instead nathan burris and his advisory counsel spoke asking for a new date. burris says he has no access to library or research and prepare. he is defending himself. >> to me he is a joke. he is trying to do anything he can to stay in the county
